Dunty

The name of Dunty (or 'Denty') is connected at least two times with the Clarck family of Newfoundland. Richard Clarck, brother of Nelson Clarck (and son of John Clarck and Maria Sanders) married Marianne Dunty (or or Marie-Anne Denty, in 1846). They had two children: Alfred (born 1852) and Marianne. Richard was a fisherman on the island of Oderin in Placentia Bay, Newfoundland.

Charlotte Dunty married John Clark (son of John Clarck and Marie Sanders) at Oderin, Placentia Bay, Newfoundland, on 22nd October 1849 (cf Meth. Marriages, Dist. of Burin (1816 - 1972)). They had three children: Henri, Isaac and Marie Sanders (born 17 December 1862).

There is not a direct Dunty-family connection, as yet, between the above Marianne and Charlotte. It is probable they were sisters and also from Oderin, in Placentia Bay.
