Mary Pennock
Mary Pennock, daughter of John Pennock and Hannah Garbutt, was born on the 10th of March, 1781, in Egton, North Riding of Yorkshire. She married William Gatenby, a farmer, on the 19th of April, 1803, in Egton. He was born about 1772 in Egton.
Children of Mary Pennock and William Gatenby are:
1. Jonathan Gatenby, born 5th of June, 1818, Egton, NRY; died between 1861 and 1871.
2. Hannah Gatenby, born 10th of April, 1804, Egton, NRY.
3. John Gatenby, born 31st of January, 1806, at Egton, NRY
4. Andrew Gatenby, born 16th of January, 1807, at Sleights, NRY was a curate in the Church of England. He died in 1876 at Ely, Cambridgeshire. He married Ann Luddington in March of 1859 at Ely. She was born in 1818 at Little Port, Cambridgeshire. In the 1851 Census Andrew is a widow, residing on Church Street, Littleport, indicating he was married before his marriage to Ann; in the 1861 Census he is living at th evicarage in Winston, Suffolk as he is also in the 1871 Census along with his niece, Mary Robinson (born 1867, Palgrave, Norfolk) who is staying with the Reverend and his wife. Ann Luddington is in the Winston vicarage, Suffolk, in both the 1861 and 1871 censuses. In the Littleport (St. George) church, on the north side, is a memorial window erected by his widow 'to the Rev. Andrew Gatenby, BA, for more than 21 years curate in sole charge here and rector of Mepal 1871-6, who died in 1876.' In the 1881 census Ann is living on Market Street, Ely, Holy Trinity and St. Mary (parish?) with her nephew Edwin W. Robinson (born 1868 Sporle, Norfolk). In the 1891 census, Ann is still on Market Street, Ely.
5. Mary Gatenby, born 3rd of September, 1810, in Egton, NRY.
6. William Gatenby, born 18th of June, 1813, Egton, NRY. He never married. In the 1871 and 1881 censuses he is staying with Rebecca on Lr East Street, Middlesbrough, NRY. He was a boot and shoe maker.
7. Thomas Gatenby, born 25th of January, 1816, Egton, NR; died between 1881 and 1891.
8. Jane Gatenby, born 28th of May, 1822, Egton, NRY.
