Florence Hatcher was the wife of Alexander Bungay. She was from Rose Blanche, Newfoundland, and was the daughter of William Hatcher and his wife Frances Julia (nee Bird). Her sisters were: Irene, Elizabeth, Almas, Louise, and Hilda. Her brothers were Thomas and William. Three sisters married three Bungay brothers - James, Alexander and Wilson.

Irene Sibley, 92, a resident of Foundry Street, North Sydney, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at the Northside Community Guest Home.

Born in Rose Blanche, Nfld., she was a daughter of the late William and Frances Julia (Bird) Hatcher. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church and she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving is her son, Eric (Doris) Sibley, North Sydney; daughter, Joyce (Herman) O'Connell, Cardinal, Ont.; seven grandchildren, Blair, Stephen, Wendy, Karen, Wayne, Tony and Gary and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, George Sibley, granddaughter, Hope O'Connell Schaefer, grandson, Darren Sibley, an infant grandchild, five sisters, Elizabeth, Alma Hann, Florence Bungay, Louise Bungay Caron and Hilda Voutier, five brothers, Thomas Hatcher, William Hatcher, James Bungay, Alec Bungay and Wilson Bungay. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today (Friday) in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service 2:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John Baptist Anglican Church with Archdeacon Reg MacDonald officiating. Burial to follow at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. Memorial donations may be made to St. John the Baptist Church or a charity of one's choice.

Distant from Harbor Briton by packet boat once a fortnight 111 miles, and from St. John's by steamer once a fortnight 330 miles, fare $9. Mail fortnightly. Population 620.
