(There is also a Sarah Flatt, aged 2, on the boat who seems not to be affiliated with any family - & who may have been in the care of William and Sophia.)

Jonathan Oakes Jr. 13; Harriet Oakes 18, single; John Oakes 11; Sophia Oakes 15; James Oakes 8; Susan Oakes 7 mos; George Oakes 6; Robert Oakes

Robert Barber (born 1814), emigrated to Canada in 1836, along with his older brother, William, and his family, and the Jonathan Oakes (and Dinah Short) family, whose daughter, Harriet, Robert would marry later that year, in Guelph, Ontario.

In a record (2359A) dated July 4th, 1836, indication is given that it cost the parish of Cratfield, Suffolk, about 200 pound to 'send them away.' Records shows that the whole of the families sent had received from the parish rector, during the last year approximate payment of 50 pounds each, indicating that their poverty necessitated this assistance. The record also bears the date 13/7/36 - i.e. 13 July, 1836 - and a stamp is also affixed to the document - 7 July, 1836.
