Hannah Wood
Hannah Wood was born 2 March, 1819; christened 12th of March, 1819, Glaisdale, NRY; died 11 November 1896, Cowl House, Bransdale, NRY; buried at St. Nicholas chapel, Cockayne, Bransdale, NRY.
Hannah was married to Newark Wilson in 1838 at St. Mary's Church, Whitby. After their marriage, they lived in a house that was part of the Bransdale Mill group of buildings, at the 'Cockayne' top of Bransdale.
Following this, they moved to Cowl House in west Bransdale - a 'long-house' that had been built in 1747, where Newark was a farmer and blacksmith.
Children of Newark Wilson and Hannah Wood were:
1. George Wilson - born 19 July, 1846, Cowl House, Bransdale West, NRY; baptized in the parish of Kirkbymoorside - 19 July, 1846. He married Ellen Thompson. He died at Skirkenbeck, NRY, 24 December 1918.
2. Ann Elizabeth Wilson (twin) - born 21 March, 1856, Cowl House, Bransdale West. She married James Green and she and the family came to Canada in 1906. She died in Dundas, ON, in 1924.
3. Mary Jane Wilson (twin) born 21 March, 1856, Cowl House, Bransdale West. She married William Atkinson and they lived at Bhonfield Ghyl, near Carlton and East Moors, NRY. They moved to Westerdale House, Huttons Ambo, NRY, shortly before 1900. She died 7 January, 1900.
