Newark Wilson
Newark (son of Francis Wilson and Elizabeth Harland) was born at his parents farm - Grange Farm, Howsyke in the North Riding of Yorkshire - 6th of January, 1819. He was christened at Glaisdale, NRY on 4 Febuary, 1819.
Howsyke is near Danby (near 'Duck Bridge' and Danby Castle) - on the road between Danby and Glaisdale.
He married Hannah Wood at St. Mary's, Whitby. At age 20, in the 1841 census, Newark is living in Kirkbymoorside parish.
After their marriage, they lived in a house that was part of the Bransdale Mill group of buildings, at the 'Cockayne' top of Bransdale.
Following this, they moved to Cowl House - a 'long-house' that had been built in 1747, where he was a farmer and blacksmith.

Children of Newark Wilson and Hannah Wood were:
1. George Wilson - born 19 July, 1846, Cowl House, Bransdale West, NRY; baptized in the parish of Kirkbymoorside - 19 July, 1846. He married Ellen Potter (daughter of John Potter) - 26 December, 1874. He died at Skirkenbeck, NRY, 24 December 1918.
2. Ann Elizabeth Wilson (twin) - born 21 March, 1856, Cowl House, Bransdale West. She married James Green and she and the family came to Canada in 1906. She died in Dundas, ON, in 1924.
3. Mary Jane Wilson (twin) born 21 March, 1856, Cowl House, Bransdale West. She married William Atkinson and they lived at Bhonfield Ghyl, near Carlton and East Moors, NRY. They moved to Westerdale House, Huttons Ambo, NRY, shortly before 1900. She died 7 January, 1900.
