Smith Family of Suffolk, England
Mary Smith was the wife of Joshua Moore (c. 5 Aug. 1756, Southelmham, Suffolk, England). Mary was the daughter of John Smith (1732-1780) and Ann Cattermole (1728-1780). She was born in Badingham, Suffolk 18 November 1759.
Mary and Joshua Moore were married on the 21st of June, 1783, at St. Margaret's parish church, Southelmham, Suffolk.
The Moore children were:
1. Mary Moore born 25 Jan. 1784; christened 25 January, 1784 at St. Margaret's, Southelmham. She married Elisha Aldrich on the 3rd of December, 1802. At the time of her marriage, Mary was a minor but had her father's consent. Witnesses: Jonathon Glowritt, Mary Carley and Amy Moore.
2. Amy Moore was christened 3 April, 1785 at St. Margaret's, Southelmham.
3. Joshua Moore was born 15th October, 1787 at St. Margaret's, Southlemham. He married Elizabeth Stopher 17 March, 1813, at Cookley, Suffolk. They had a daughter Elizabeth who was christened 2 August, 1816, at St. Mary's, Cratfield. They possibly also had a son, also named Joshua Moore.
4. Elizabeth Moore was christened 29 November, 1789. She married William Barber, 4th October, 1811, in St. Mary's, Cratfield.
5. James Moore was born 8 February, 1790 at St. Margaret's, Southelmham.
6. Biddy Moore was christened 1 July, 1792, at St. Margaret's, Southelmham.
7. Melicient Moore was born 2 February, 1794, at St. Margaret's, Southelmham.
8. Samuel Moore was born 5 April, 1795 and christened 16 April, 1795, at St. Margaret's, Southelmham.
9. Lucy Moore was christened 19 June, 1796, at St. Margaret's, Southelmham.
10. Priscilla Moore was born 22 October, 1797, at St. Margaret's, Southelmham.
11. Samuel Moore was born 18 November 1798, at St. Margaret's, Southelmham.
12. Harriet Moore was christened 24 November, 1800, at St. Margaret's, Southelmham.
13. Tryphena Moore was christened 29 June, 1802, at St. Margaret's, Southelmham.
14. Thomas Moore was christened 29 January, 1804, at St. Mary's, Cratfield, Suffolk.
15. Maheli Moore (Mahalah Morre) was christened 31 March, 1806, St. Mary's, Cratfield. She married William Bedingfield, son of Abraham Bedingfield and Sarah Collins. William was born 11 May 1801 and died 5 June, 1840. They were married on the 5th of November, 1827, at St. Mary's, Cratfield. They had three daughterse, Elizabeth, Sarah and Ruth.
