Stephen Brock Barber

Stephen, son of Albert Gordon Barber and Doris Magdalena Willits, was born in Managua, Nicaragua, Central America in 1950. He was married to Cheryl Robinson, in London, Ontario, in June of 1973. Her father was the pastor of Central Baptist Church in that city.

Stephen had studied aviation and Bible at the Moody Bible Institute in preparation for missionary service with the Missionary Aviation Fellowship. He He was involved in apprentice training, as part of that program, and was living in Whitehorse, Yukon. (He had just written to the Central American Mission about possible service in Honduras.) He was killed in an accident when a drunken driver swerved into his lane, while Steve was returning home from his shift at work.

I was very close to Stephen during our teen years as he boarded with our family (we roomed together) as we worked together at my home, on my father's market gardening farm in Burlington, Ontario.

Stephen and Cheryl had two sons - Joshua Barber McBurney ( born in Whitehorse, Yukon) and Matthew Barber McBurney (born in London, Ontario). Cheryl married (2) Robert McBurney. They also have a daughter, Michelle.
