Sarah Lawman

Sarah Lawman - daughter of William Lawman and Elizabeth Newson - was born in Essendon, Hertfordshire and christened in the parish church there on 23 June, 1782. She married Abraham King (1787 - 1839) on 17 July, 1814, in Essendon. He was a labourer and she was a laundress.

Following Abrahm's death in 1839, she lived with her daughter Mary Ann King (Frost) at 'Laundry Cottage' in Essendon. In the 1841 Census she is age 55, laundress.

She lived with the Frost family (see also 1851 Census for Essendon) - but she did not move with them when they moved to Ware, Herts. In the 1861 Census, she is said to be 82 years old, living in Hatford (likely with the Frost family); born in Hertfordshire - laundress).
