James Green (b. 1797)
James was the father of Esther Green (1835 - 1917). He was born in Kirkbymoorside Parish, North Riding of Yorkshire, 7 May, 1797, and christened there 24 May, 1798. His parents were Thomas Green (b. 1761) and Jane Ward. They were married at Kirkbymoorside 23 December, 1824. Sarah was the daughter of Joshua Ward and Ann (Unknown).
James Green was a coal miner, likely on Rudland Rigg and Rudland Moor, just north of Gillamoor in the ridge road and moorland area between the valleys of Bransdale and Farndale.

5. Mary Green - born at Rudland Rigg, NRY; christened 14 April, 1833, Kirkbymoorside; married George Jackson, farmer, (born ca 1821, Rudland Rigg, NRY) on July 1, 1854, Kirkbymoorside. Issue: Robert (b. ca 1859), Thomas (b. ca 1860), Jane Elizabeth (b. ca 1867).
6. Esther Green - christened 25 August, 1835, Kirkbymoorside, NRY - died 1 January, 1917, Guelph, ON; buried 3 January, 1917, Eden Mills, ON
7. Elizabeth (Betty) Green - christened 5 October, 1838, Kirkbymoorside, NRY - died 1920, Guelph, ON; buried: Woodlawn Cemetery, Guelph - married 22 February, 1858, Kirkbymoorside to Anthony Clarkson Dennis (1837 - 1926).
8. Joseph Green - born abt 1841, Kirkbymoorside, NRY
9. Jane Green - born abt 1841, Kirkbymoorside, NRY; married Jeremiah Teasdale, sometime between 1860 and 1865. Issue: Mary Anna Teasdale (1866 - 1939)
