William John Donaldson

William John Donaldson (called 'John') was born in the Ottawa Valley, Ontario in 1868. He was the son of David Donaldson and Annie Shields and moved with his family to the West, eventually also settling with them in Swan River, Manitoba.

John Donaldson was married to Mary Hall (of the Hall family of Grey County, near Owen Sound, Ontario). Both John and Mary died in Swan River, Manitoba. The family first lived near Selkirk, just north and east of Winnipeg and then removed to Vancouver for a number of years, around 1914. Times were hard there and so they moved back to the Swan River, Manitoba area, in 1915, and after three or four months bought the old Frazer farm, near Swan River.
