Joseph Charles Roberts was born 13 (or 14th) March 1879, in Beverly, West Flamborough, Ontario, and died 23 July 1972. His parents were Francis Roberts and Diana Nichol.

Joseph married Clara Nicholson (b. 15 May 1881 - d. 15 May 1966), daughter of James Nicholson and Hanne Anetta Burkholder.

Their children included John Wesley (b. 18 July 1907) and Anetta (b. 1910). Joseph and Clara (and these two children) are buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Copetown, Ontario.
