Henry Stratton was the son of Edward Stratton (1724 - 1784 and Elizabeth Chandler (1717 - 1784). He was born in August 1760 at Wilsford (Pewsey), Wiltshire, England. He died at Wilsford, 23 September 1836. Henry was baptized 10 August 1760.

Henry married Anne Ragbourne (1760 - 1817) (various spellings, including Raybourn of this name over the centuries) on the 14th of April 1782 at Wilsford. Banns were previously given at Wilsford on the 17th of March of that year.

(Wilsford is 2 miles from Bottlesford where there son Thomas was born, and less than 4 miles from Manningford Bruce where Henry and Ann are said to be residing in 1791 when Thomas was christened.)
